In my second day, we learned about traditions of the region, including Petrikivka painting. I learned that the distinctive features are its flower patterns, distinctive brush techniques, and its traditionally white background. This style is used to decorate walls and everyday household items.
Later that day, some of the students very kindly took me into the city, this was a great experience for me and my first impressions of Dnipro were that it is an outward-looking, dynamic and modern city but with rich history and culture. Of course McDonalds was a welcome break from school food.
